Taranaki
2016
The home is set North-facing toward Mount Taranaki.
The open plan layout separates the private and public functions of the home.
This concise layout allows the design to feel inviting for guests but still offer a clear line where the bedroom spaces can be separated for privacy.
The cedar cladding and plywood soffits create an inviting and warm atmosphere within the spaces. The natural materials means the home merges into its rural surroundings.
The use of cedar moves from the exterior into internal linings creating a transitioning space between enclosure and exposure to the natural elements. Natural concrete floors and white washed walls allow the natural colours of the rural landscape to envelop the internal spaces.
