In the seaside village of Oakura you will find the trend setting Hall of Design studio and gallery space
The simplistic and refined space hosts exhibitions and houses workspace for the long established graphic design avenue of HOD. The 40ft shipping container was moved onto site and repurposed to become a lively arts space for the community. We worked closely with the client to ensure the building filled their needs in space and design and met New Zealand building code standards. The containers placement on the boundary ensued appropriate fire rated interior linings, and for durability in its seaside location, a marine coating has been applied to the exterior. The interior has been given a larger sense of space through the use of clean lines and a subtle, smooth transition from the paint finished gallery to the exposed ply workspace. Warmth is given to the space through natural timber flooring and flexible lighting for the changing exhibition space is an important element to the look and feel of the repurposed container.
