Airspresso

Airspresso was a considerable retrofit of the existing New Plymouth Airport Café. The design incorporated some deconstruction along the south façade to provide a much needed visual link to the airport runway. The concept evolved around snippets of Taranaki aviation pioneers and the client’s interest in flying airplanes. His enthusiasm as an aviation ‘petrol head’ provided for a clever interpretation of the café brief.

Pioneer aviators were courageous and daring, and early air travellers had about them an aura of glamour and adventure. Airspresso captures these impressions along with the spirit of flight through its design, colours, imagery and its intriguing collections.
