Enliven Chalmers Home

BOON worked with Presbyterian Support Central to redevelop the Chalmers Home, which occupies a prime site on the New Plymouth coastline.

This project included construction of seven distinctive cottages, each providing personalised space for twelve residents. These cottages are semi-independent but interconnected to form a welcoming village setting. Provisions for gardens, pets and all the trappings of normal home life are a focus of the design. The reuse of the existing good elements of the present building fabric underpin the master plan. Maintaining the existing residents onsite during the evolution of the development was also a fundamental requirement.
