BOON were engaged in 1997 to conduct public consultation and prepare briefs and concept designs for four new facilities. This included reception / sports centre, leisure pool, museum, public toilets. We were later commissioned to provide full service for a combined events centre and pool complex incorporating public toilets. The pool consists of a new 8 lane x 25 meter multi purpose pool, with beach, learners’ / hydrotherapy pool, children’s pool, hydro slide and tiered seating for 280 people. The Events Centre is a multipurpose 2 court venue containing 900 retractable seat bleachers and sprung sports floor. Amenities include wet and dry change rooms, office space and reception, café and 200m2 mezzanine floor with viewing to pool and events centre. The reception / sports area is 23000m2 and the leisure pool is 2600m2.
