TSB Showplace Foyer Refurbishment

The renewed foyer at the TSB Showplace establishes a distinctly theatrical arrival, building anticipation from the moment visitors cross the threshold. Rich materiality, layered lighting and a bold palette of deep red, warm gold & crisp white brings a direct visual connection to the main theatre beyond.

The interior is defined by plush red curtains, patterned carpet and brass-edged lounge seating, bringing warmth and texture to the space. A raised feature ceiling introduces a greater sense of scale, with concealed LED lighting tracing its perimeter and statement chandeliers creating a strong focal point overhead.

Behind the transformation sits a significant programme of technical upgrades, including a seismic upgrade, new HVAC system, improved accessibility and expanded toilet facilities. The ticket box was relocated and reconfigured with dual service windows, including a new external-facing window, while a new bar was positioned to improve circulation and audience flow during busy performance periods.

Signage has been treated as an integral part of the architecture rather than an afterthought. Illuminated elements contribute to the visual identity of the foyer while providing intuitive wayfinding. New internal and external LED displays further extend the venue’s communication into the public realm.

At the heart of the refurbishment is a balance between function and theatre. Circulation, accessibility, ticketing, hospitality and audience amenity have all been reconsidered, while the interior language deliberately heightens the excitement of arriving at a performance. The foyer now operates as more than a threshold to the theatre – it is an extension of the experience itself: layered, atmospheric and unmistakably theatrical.
